What the Rhino saw, when it looked on the other side of the fence (10+)

«A powerful plea for moral courage, against forgetting, and for not closing our eyes to injustice. Captivating, poetic, funny, and touching.»

Mama and Papa Baboon, Mr. and Mrs. Mouflon, and the Groundhog Girl live happily in the zoo. But then a newly arrived young bear turns everyday life and order upside down with his questions about the strange zebra creatures on the other side of the fence. He also wants to know the cause of the stench. This doesn’t sit well with the people in boots or some of the zoo’s inhabitants. And then there is the rhinoceros that has disappeared and the question of what it saw when it looked on the other side of the fence. When the bear can’t stand the suspense any longer, he makes plan with serious consequences…

La Grenouille from Biel/Bienne, The Theater Center for Young Audiences, together with guest director Julien Schmutz, stages the premiere of this award-winning script in German and French by Jens Raschke. The play has been performed many times in Germany.
