Go Tell (14+)

«Together we are strong, we’ve been saying that all along! Yes, but do you really believe it?» Six young women encounter a 700-year-old myth written down 200 years ago.»

In «Go Tell», Young Marie meddles with Switzerland and its history(s), working through its clichés and its errors large and small and thinking up possible alternative scenarios. The topics range from homeland to democracy, neutrality and naturalization. Questions of (women’s) voting rights and justice are discussed as well as the cowardice of the (many) men in Schiller’s «Wilhelm Tell» or the sense and nonsense of political participation: «when everything takes so long». «Go Tell» is as ambivalent as its title, which is both «Get lost, Tell!» and «Go on, tell about it!»

Young Marie has been Theater Marie’s platform since 2014. Young Marie consists of writer, director and actress Julia Haenni, and actress Barbara Heynen. Their intent is to explore and adapt classic plays for contemporary political content, conveying them to a young audience.
